Glamping in North America and other parts of the world is just beginning to catch on in a big way. However, glamping UK (aka posh camping, glam camping, glamorous camping) has been a popular choice for a close-to-home holiday for decades.

There are a few reasons for this. First of all the English, Scottish and Welsh countryside is renowned for its natural beauty, perfect for glamping.

Secondly, unlike North America where wide-open spaces are the norm, it’s not as easy to just pack up the car with camping gear and set off to find yourself a remote spot to camp.

Thirdly, the climate in the UK leans towards wetter and cooler temperatures making traditional tent camping less enjoyable outside of summer.

Finally, the UK has a much longer history which includes farming, shepherding and a gypsy culture; all of which have inspired many of the glamping sites in the UK you see today.

This has all contributed to a wide array of UK glamping sites from the more traditional canvas walled tents or bell tents to the historic shepherd huts and gypsy caravans to the more modern glamping pods and geo domes. Plus there are unique and quirky glamping options like treehouses, hobbit holes, yurts, boats and even castles.

With thousands of glamping spots in the UK coming in all shapes, sizes and prices we can’t possibly list them all in one post. This guide will give you a good overview of the best areas in the UK for posh camping and glamping along with suggestions for some of the larger glampsites in each region.
